Welcome to Scrite!
These Terms of Use (“TERMS”) govern your access and use of Scrite, a screenwriting software provided by VCreate Logic Private Limited, India (“COMPANY,” “WE,” “OUR,” or “US”).
By downloading, installing, or using Scrite, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the software.
1. License
Scrite is an open-source project distributed under the GNU General Public License (GPL). The complete source code is available on our GitHub Repository (https://github.com/teriflix/scrite). You are free to download, modify, and distribute your own variants of the software, provided that you comply with the terms of the GPL as outlined in https://github.com/teriflix/scrite/blob/master/LICENSE.txt.
2. Subscription Plans
As long as we offer public betas for free, all features of Scrite are free to use without restriction. However, once Scrite moves out of beta, and a public version (> 1.0) is launched, WE will offer a time-limited trial period for existing & new users, during which time you can access all features of Scrite. After the trial period, continued use of the software will require a paid subscription plan.
Complete terms and conditions for subscription plans, including pricing and renewal details, will be shared soon. Upon launching paid subscription plans, the public betas may stop functioning. By activating and/or subscribing, you agree to the terms outlined in that document. Access to premium features is contingent upon the use of the official, untampered binaries provided by US on our website (https://www.scrite.io).
Please Note: WE do not service or support binaries created by third parties from OUR source code, even if they have not modified it. Subscription benefits apply only to the latest version of official binaries offered by US on this website.
3. Precompiled Binaries
WE offer precompiled binaries of Scrite for Linux, Windows, and macOS. While you are free to build and distribute your own versions of the software from the source code, you agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the precompiled binaries offered by US.
- Publish or distribute the precompiled binaries in any form without prior written consent from US.
Please note: custom builds, whether done you or a third party, will not be entitled for any support or service, even if you are a paid subscriber.
4. Intellectual Property
The Scrite name, logo, and any associated branding elements are the exclusive property of VCreate Logic Private Limited. This does not extend to the source code, which is governed by the GPL. Unauthorized use of our trademarks or branding is strictly prohibited.
5. Third-Party Material and Websites

Any reliance on information or services provided by external links is at your own risk.
6. Data and Privacy
WE do not process or store any of your scripts, screenplays, or other content created using Scrite. You are solely responsible for the safe and secure sharing, storage, and retrieval of your content. The COMPANY is not responsible for any data loss, theft, or corruption of your content. Please ensure that you maintain backups of your work.

7. Updates and Changes
WE may update Scrite from time to time, including adding or removing features. These updates may be automatic and may require you to update your system. WE reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, with or without notice. Continued use of the software after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
8. Support and Availability
Scrite requires access to the Internet to connect to our web services for activation and periodic updates of access tokens. If Scrite is unable to connect to the Internet and access these services, certain features, or sometimes the whole product itself, may become locked or unavailable.
While WE strive to keep our web services available and functioning at all times, there may be instances of downtime or service interruptions that could disrupt your use of Scrite. WE are not liable for any inconvenience or loss caused by such disruptions.
Technical support is available for users of our official binaries and subscription plans. However, we do not provide support for custom builds generated by third parties.
Support can be requested on our Discord community, where users can post questions, report bugs, and seek assistance. Paid subscribers also have the option to seek support via email by writing to support@scrite.io. WE aim to respond to support queries within ten business days.
NOTE: While WE are committed to providing support for all reported issues, we cannot guarantee specific turnaround times for issue resolution or that every issue will be resolved.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
Scrite is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. WE do not claim that any of the features offered by the product are free of bugs, errors, or vulnerabilities, nor do WE guarantee that the software will be foolproof or meet your expectations.
You acknowledge and agree that you use Scrite at your own risk. WE make no warranties, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the software will be error-free or operate without interruptions.
While we strive to offer support and service to address your queries and feature requests, we may not be able to resolve all issues or implement all requests.
